OneTest Firefighter Cancer Screening

One of the most important factors when it comes to treatments for cancer is early detection. 911 Biocare TeleMD’s experts use only industry-leading technologies to ensure that you get the care you need. Our experts specialize in OneTest, an early detection, cancer screening test, and the only test that screens for multiple different types of cancer. It uses various biomarkers commonly associated with various types of cancer. The OneTest is a simple blood test that can detect multiple cancers including lung, liver, esophagus, pancreas, stomach, prostate, testicular, and others.

A five-year study of 30,000 U.S. firefighters by NIOSH found that firefighters proportionately had a greater number of cancer diagnoses and cancer-related deaths than the general U.S. population. These cancers were mostly digestive, oral, respiratory, and urinary.

How Does It Work?

OneTest utilizes machine learning-derived algorithms (procedures used to solve a series of calculations) to compare an individual’s biomarker levels and other characteristics such as age, gender, and family history against a database of nearly 100,000 individuals tested over the past twelve years for these biomarkers, with known outcomes. The OneTest panel includes the following biomarkers:

  • CEA
  • CA-125
  • AFP
  • CA-19-9
  • PSA (Men Only)
  • Cyfra 21-1
  • CA15-3 (Women Only)

However, the OneTest is NOT a definitive test for cancer. It is meant as an initial screen to indicate the need for follow-up testing by a physician, to confirm or rule out the presence of cancer. The only definitive test for any cancer is the analysis of biopsied tissue by a board-certified pathologist. To set up your OneTest cancer screening appointment contact us in Redlands, CA today!
